On April 1, 2021 Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) announced an entry permit, which will be issued for a period of six months, and can be extended for another six months, to facilitate the completion of procedures for obtaining a golden residency.

Those who are eligible to apply for a golden visa can apply for this six-month entry permit. The categories eligible for the golden visa include:

1. Investors (public investments / real estate investor).
2. Entrepreneurs (owner and founder of a project).
3. Specialized talents (doctors/scientists).
4. Creative specialists in culture and art.
5. Inventors.
6. Specialists in priority scientific fields.
7. Athletes.
8. Ph.D. holders.
9. Specialists in the fields of Engineering and Science (Epidemiology and Viruses, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Programming Engineering, Electrical, Genetics, and Biotechnology).
10. Outstanding students (high school students/university students).

Applicants can file their documents through the following channels:

• UAE Federal Authority for Identity & Citizenship official Website.
• Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) smartphone application ‘ICA UAE’, which is available for Apple and Android devices.
• Tasheel typing center.

You can also receive further information on the visa through the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) app, the ICA’s call center – 600 522222, by visiting their website – www.ica.gov.ae – or by visiting a Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) customer happiness center.
Once you have submitted the application, you will receive a text message and email confirming the receipt of the application. Similarly, you will receive a text message and email whenever there is an update on your application. When the entry permit has been issued, you will receive an email with the permit.

1. Passport copy for yourself and dependents.
2. Colored photograph.
3. Proof of eligibility for golden residence.
4. Additional attachments, supporting your application.

An investor in public investments would need to submit the following documents:

• Bringing a letter from an investment fund approved in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) stating that there is a deposit of USD $545,000 (AED 2,000,000).
• Or bringing a valid commercial or industrial license with the company’s incorporation contract with the investor so that the investor's capital is not less than USD $545,000 (AED 2,000,000).
• Investing in a new or existing company as a partner with shares of a minimum of USD $545,000 (AED 2,000,000), not financed by a loan.
• Or bring a letter from the Federal Tax Authority stating that he is the owner of a company that pays the government no less than USD $96,000 (AED 250,000) annually.
• Or bring a letter from the Federal Tax Authority stating that he is a partner in an establishment that pays tax to the government and whose share in the tax is no less than USD $96,000 (AED 250,000) annually.

A real estate investor would need to submit the following documents:

• Letter from the Real Estate Registration Department in the relevant emirate stating that he owns one or more properties whose value is not less than USD $545,000 (AED 2,000,000), stating that the property is not subject to a loan.
• Proof of housing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) (home ownership or house rental contract).

An entrepreneur would need to submit the following documents:

• Having the approval letter from an auditor in the United Arab Emirates (UAE)stating that the project value is not less than USD $137,000 (AED 500,000)as a project owner.
• Having the approval letter from the authorities in the Emirate stating that the project is of a technical or future nature in which leadership is achieved (project owner).
• Having the approval letter from an accredited business incubator in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to establish the proposed activity in the country (founder of a project).
• Having a valid passport copy.
• Presenting valid health insurance, which is not less than one year and can be extended.
• Proof of housing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) (home ownership / house rental contract).

• Doctors need to submit an approval letter from the Ministry of Health to practice the profession, while scientists need to submit a letter of recommendation from the Emirates Council of Scientists or a letter from the Secretariat of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Academic Excellence stating that they are a recipient of the Academic Excellence Medal (Scholars).
• A valid passport copies.
• Valid health insurance, which is for not less than one year and can be extended.

• An approval letter from the Department of Culture and Arts in the relevant emirate. (People of culture and art).
• A valid passport copies.
• A valid health insurance, which is not less than one year and can be extended.

• Certified university degree.
• Minimum five years of experience.
• Salary not less than USD $14,000 AED (50,000) PER MONTH.
• Valid work contract.
• Valid Passport copy.
• Valid health insurance, which is for not less than one year and can be extended.

• A specialized certificate in a rare field specified by the authorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) (scientific fields of priority).
• A recommendation letter from the General Sports Authority or one of the sports councils (athletes).
• Valid passport copy.
• Valid health insurance, which is for not less than one year and can be extended.

• Having a certified copy of the PhD from the Ministry of Education in one of the priority disciplines (PhD degrees).
• Bring a certified copy of the university degree from the Ministry of Education in one of the above-mentioned majors (engineering and science fields).
• Bring a work contract for a profession in one of the above-mentioned specializations (engineering and science fields).
• Valid passport copy.
• Valid health insurance, which is for not less than one year and can be extended.

• Bring a recommendation letter from the Ministry of Education (for school students) or a recommendation letter from the university (for university students) stating that their GPA is not less than 3.8.

The total cost of the entry permit is USD $315 (AED 1,150).
