QIIP Set 50 Applications under Self Employed Program
The province of Quebec has set a cap of 50 applications under its Self-Employed program starting the 1st of April 2016. The new subscription cycle will be closed for interested applicants once the cap of 50 applications is reached under the Quebec Self-Employed category.

Quebec Immigration authorities are pleased to announce that they will start taking in applications under its Quebec Immigration Investor Program (QIIP) for a limited time. Quebec will be accepting up to 1,900 applications in total, which includes 1,330 from China, Hong Kong and Macao, and leaving the remaining 570 applications to individuals from countries around the world. In addition, during this cycle, the province of Quebec will be allowing 50 applications under its Quebec Entrepreneur stream, and 50 applications under its Self-Employed program.

Self-Employed applicants are able to obtain permanent residency for themselves and their immediate families (including dependent children under 19 years of age) if the principle applicant fulfills the following requirements: two years of related experience; a personal net worth of CAD 100,000; a sufficient amount of funds for the applicant and his/her family; and create jobs for the applicant in practice of an occupation from the National Occupational Classification after moving to Quebec. Interested applicants should also meet the necessary occupational entry or licensing conditions. Similarly to skilled worker applicants, Self-Employed applications are reviewed under a selection system which consists of nine features and the applicant is expected to acquire the points needed to proceed.

Successful applicants benefit from the Quebec Self-Employed program in multiple ways, such as immigration to Canada and being granted permanent residency with immediate family (including dependent children under 19 years of age), allowing the family to share the same status. As a permanent resident of Canada, applicants have the right get hold of most social benefits that Canadian citizens receive, including health care coverage; live, work or study anywhere in Canada; apply for Canadian citizenship (if requirements are met); and are also granted protection under Canadian law and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
