EU tax haven blacklist: Finance ministers remove eight countries, including Grenada

European Union finance ministers agreed on Tuesday to remove eight jurisdictions, from the bloc’s blacklist of tax havens, one month after the list was set up. The decision prompted an outcry from lawmakers and activists. Barbados, Grenada, South Korea, Macao, Mongolia, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates joined Panama as jurisdictions delisted following commitments made at a high political level to remedy EU concerns, according to a statement from the ministers.

Congress Passes Another (CR) EB-5 Extended to Feb.8th 2018

By a vote of 266-150 on January 22th 2018 (three days after the previous extension deadline of midnight on January 19th ), the House passed the Senate amendment, extending Continuing Appropriations for government services and programs to February 8th 2018. The bill now goes to the president who is expected to sign it into law.

Congress Passes Stopgap Spending Bill Extends EB5 Jan19 2018

We are pleased to announce that the (EB-5) Immigrant Investor Program has been extended, albeit for just a short time, to January 19, 2018 , with the minimum required investment amount remaining at $500,000. Both the House and Senate passed a stopgap spending bill which will avert a government shutdown through January 19, 2018.

2016/2017Malta Individual Investor Programme-MIIP Statistics

The Office of the Regulator for the Individual Investor Program released its fourth annual report enclosing a selection of statistical data related to Malta’s citizenship by investment program (MIIP) , between July 1st, 2016 and June 30th 2017 . The report reveals that while interest in the program remains strong, the number of applications submitted in the period decreased from the 451 recorded in 2016 to 377 until June 30th 2017.

What is the Future of EB-5 Regional Center Program in 2018

On December 13, 2017, the House Appropriations Committee introduced a Continuing Resolution that would for the short term extend federal funding and maintain current federal operations (currently authorized to December 22) until January 19, 2018. Although the provisions do not state EB-5per se, it is highly possible that EB-5 will hitchhike the CR and get another short extension to next year.
