For investors and high net worth individuals who are interested in business immigration, it is important to examine which business immigration programs would be best suited to their needs as well as the requirements of each program.


Two of the most recognized business immigration programs in North America and worldwide are USA’s EB-5 and Canada’s Quebec Immigrant Investor program (QIIP).This article will outline the main requirements that allow candidates to qualify for each of these programs.  


*The government of Quebec has recently announced its new quota set for the Quebec Immigrant Investor Program (QIIP) under the category of Canada Business Immigration. The program will be accepting a total of 1900 applicants from various parts of the world from May 30, 2016 until February 28, 2017.

Minimum net worth:

The Quebec Immigrant Investor program (QIIP) requires a minimum net worth of CAD 1.6 million either alone or combined with the applicant’s spouse. The EB-5 US investor program requires a minimum net worth of USD 1 million.

Minimum investment:

For the Quebec Immigrant Investor program (QIIP) the applicant is required to make a risk-free investment of CAD 800,000 to the government of Quebec which is a guaranteed in full and will be returned after 5 years. Applicants opting for the EB-5 US immigrant investor program will need to make a minimum investment of USD 500,000 in a targeted employment area (TEA) 

Other requirements:

The Quebec Immigrant Investor program (QIIP) requires the applicant to have a minimum of 2 years management experience. On the other hand the EB-5 US immigrant investor program requires the applicant to create at least 10 full-time jobs for citizens or permanent residents. In addition, both programs require health examination and security clearance from the applicant as well as immediate family.
