What US Green Card Means to Middle East Residents
Middle East residents are willing to invest millions to secure an investor class of the American green card. The EB-5 is available to people who can invest US$500,000 or US$1 million in a business without borrowing. It is proving particularly popular among those who live in the Middle East to escape turmoil at home, using it as a means to gain quicker U.S. citizenship. Many consider the EB-5 investor program an expedited green card.

The USA EB-5 Immigrant Investor Visa offers permanent resident status (Green Card) in the United States of America (USA) to eligible individuals as well as their family members by investing US$500,000 in a Regional Center or $1 million in a new enterprise. It is not a lot of money for many investors since it is investing in their children's future.

The Middle East is the second-biggest source of the EB-5 immigrant entrepreneur or investor visa category. There is a growing demand for the category among Middle East residents, particularly Iranians, Pakistanis and Indians in GCC, and Arabs from Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt and Syria.

Most importantly, this means that the program is particularly ideal for individuals that wish to lead a more stable and comfortable life in America, and escape from the political unrest or instability present in some countries of the Middle East and North Africa. Migration from the Middle East region to the USA, motivated mainly by political instability in the region, broadens prospects to economic opportunities abroad.

Green cards are usually obtained through a lottery system, along with a work visa, or by family sponsorship. Obtaining a green card can take as long as 12 years, and once you have it, becoming an American citizen can take another five. However, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services accept 10,000 EB-5 investors per year, and an investor can be granted a temporary green card within 18 months and citizenship five years later.

What is the EB-5 US Investor Program?

The EB-5 US Investor Program is abbreviated as Employment-based fifth preference visa. The United States of America congress created this program in 1990 to stimulate the U.S. economy through the creation of jobs for American workers by attracting foreign capital investment. The program is intended for entrepreneurs, business leaders, retirees, and others.

How will the EB-5 US Investor Program benefit me as a resident of the Middle East and North Africa?

The benefit of this program is that applicants (of no age requirements) can apply for a green card (permanent residence) and include their spouses and unmarried children (under the age of 21), and settle anywhere in the United States. Capital is invested without the need for prior business experience nor any minimum education level or English language competency. EB-5 means a better future, stability and the promise of a good education for the children.

The EB-5 (Employment Based Fifth Preference) is the path to U.S. immigration through investment.
